Early Big Ten Football Predictions for 2022

It’s still early to predict the Big Ten’s top teams for the 2022 season. There’s a lot that will determine the outcomes of the season, from schedules to team characteristics. Here are our early predictions for the next decade. You can count on Michigan’s defense to carry the Spartans, while Ohio State could avenge their loss to Michigan in 2018. The Spartans might even bowl, and Wisconsin will return to Indy for their first B1G championship game since 2009.

Ohio State is a favorite to win the 2022 season, and I see them beating up on Michigan in the opener. The Buckeyes will have a tough road trip to Rutgers, and the Wolverines will play Michigan in the Big Ten championship game. That would be a great start for Ohio State. It’s also hard to imagine a worse season for the Buckeyes, but the 2022 schedule is a demanding one.

Minnesota: The Gophers have had a great transition from last year to this. The senior quarterback Tanner Morgan is back, and the offensive line should be even better. While there’s a lot of talent on the roster, the offensive line is weak. But the line should be good enough to push whoever carries the ball. However, a team like Illinois needs to win the rest of their games to get into the playoffs, and it’s unlikely that this will happen in the 2022 season.
