Alabama Football Recruiting

The University of Alabama football team represents the University of Alabama in the sport of American football. In addition to playing in college football, the Crimson Tide also represents the University of Alabama in other sports. It is ranked as the top program in the Southeastern Conference. They are ranked as the highest-scoring team in the SEC.

The history of Alabama football can be traced to 1892, when William G. Little learned the game in Andover, Massachusetts, and started teaching it to fellow students in Birmingham. The team was officially formed the following year, with E. B. Beaumont as the head coach. While early newspaper accounts of the Alabama football team listed the team as the “varsity” or “Crimson White,” headline writers later popularized the nickname “The Thin Red Line.” In 1907, the “Crimson Tide” became the official school’s nickname.

The first Junior Day for the Crimson Tide is scheduled for next weekend. Coaches will spend the day visiting recruits, meeting with strength and conditioning staff, discussing academics, and checking out the facilities. Jaquavious Russaw, a five-star running back from Anniston, and Nick Saban have already been on campus. Other recruits include four-star defensive lineman Yhonzae Pierre, a former high school star.
